What’s your company’s story?
Founded in 2012, Encepta is built upon a culture of embracing and making use of technology to change the way work is done. Our mission is to build a company that combines great service with innovative technology and data to improve how utilities manage and enhance their distributed assets, to provide better communications, energy and transportation for their customers. We hold a fundamental belief that traditional utilities and infrastructure engineering problems have a fresh solution. Our teams are comprised of seasoned industry experts and brilliant young minds that deliver quality workmanship and customer service.
Our team began doing design and field work on Vancouver Island in 2016, and opened Encepta’s Victoria office just a few months later in mid-2017 with a local team. Our focus has been telecommunications engineering design, assessments, audits, data collection and civil inspections.
Who do you work with? What are some interesting projects you’re involved in?
We work with several of Canada’s largest Telecom companies. We’re involved with a large portion of telecommunications outside plant engineering. We design the conduit systems which provide a pathway for service to new developments. We inspect the build to make sure it’s built properly and to correct specifications. We design the expansion of the fibre optic networks which will provide service to these new developments and new customers. We survey/audit the existing infrastructure to update records and ensure current CSA standards are being met. What are you most proud of in the work that you do?

What are you most proud of in the work that you do?
Developing our own in-house software to provide high quality, accurate data. Using new technology to stay ahead of industry standards.
We’ve developed and support a web portal that is used by one of our clients to interact with their licensees through their permit application process. In conjunction, we’ve developed our own mobile app that we use in the filed which allows us to combine high-resolution imagery with high quality, accurate data used in the permitting process. It’s interfaced with our web portal so that all of the data collected is well presented and easily accessible to everyone involved in the projects.
We are also very proud of the quality of our finished products. We can confidently say that our quality exceeds our competition, and we take pride in doing so.
What are some hopes and dreams for your company?
For Encepta to be industry leaders. To help design and build the next generation of communication networks in North America, including 5G and beyond. We would like to continue to build and grow our team in Victoria and be a sought-after local employer.

Why is Victoria a great spot for your organization?
Victoria is a great spot for Encepta because it is such a Tech hub. It also allows us to work close to where we live and still gives us the opportunity to travel up Island for the occasional job easily. Because of Greater Victoria’s 13 municipalities, each with their own standards and rules, this allows for endless learning opportunities.
With the majority of the population on the south island it gives us quick access to the telecom infrastructure around us.
The community in also Victoria makes everything we do, that much more enjoyable!
