What’s your company’s story?

Clayton Lainsbury founded Crowd Content in 2011 after seeing how difficult it was to create high-quality content during his time in the performance marketing space. He envisioned building a service to let marketers order high-quality content easily and at an affordable price. Since then, we’ve helped over 5,000 clients create content by connecting them with our network of over 6,000 professional writers through our powerful content creation platform.

Our business offers two ways for companies to create content.

First, the self-serve marketplace gives clients powerful content creation tools that let them connect with writers, order content, make revisions, and directly publish content to their websites.

Second, our enterprise service provides larger clients like HomeAdvisor, 3M and Lowe’s with a fully-managed service where a dedicated project manager handles all aspects of content creation and delivers publish ready-content at scale.

Who do you work with? What are some interesting projects you’re involved in?

Our clients range from small and medium businesses to Fortune 500 companies in the publishing, retail and comparison shopping spaces. Here are a few interesting projects we’ve worked on over the years:

Retail Me Not – wrote in-depth articles for them that powered their content marketing programs
Bloomingdale’s – helped them write in-depth category page descriptions that helped them boost their SEO results and connect with their customers
3M – crafted thousands of manufacturer product descriptions that they shared with all their retail partners.

What are you most proud of in the work that you do?

We’re most proud of making a positive difference in the content creation space. On the client side, we’ve helped thousands of businesses create quality content that boosts their SEO results and drives leads. We also provide our network of writers with more than just a place to find writing gigs, and strive to create the most favourable work terms in the industry while building a robust and engaging community.

If your team had a theme song, what would it be and why?

Possibly “Highway to the Danger Zone,” but that’s mostly because we have a mild obsession with Top Gun.

What are some hopes and dreams for your company?

Our hope for the company is that we continue to scale aggressively and become the clear market leader in the content creation space.

Victoria is a great place for any tech company to set up shop. We’ve benefited from access to great local talent, a supportive tech community, and easy access to our target market. Plus, the fact that it’s a beautiful city and a great community has helped us retain employees and attract potential candidates from around Canada to apply with us.
