What’s your company’s story?

Atomic Crayon is a custom web design and development company made up of inspired and talented industry professionals. We are one of the leading web agencies in Western Canada and have been designing and developing municipal (and other public sector) websites and content management systems for 22 years.

Who do you work with? What are some interesting projects you’re involved in?

We do like a challenge: The vast majority of our clients are municipalities, a compendium of notoriously risk-averse customers. In their effort to appeal to all their myriad stakeholders, they need to ensure they aren’t leaving anyone behind. So, our challenge becomes creating something inventive that is still accessible to the masses.

What are you most proud of in the work that you do?

Our team is proud to have served as Thrifty Foods’ web developers and technology experts for the last 20 years. With the acquisition by Sobey’s our team has still been retained to address their technology requirements moving forward and our customer service has been recognized and highly acknowledged by the team at Thrifty Foods.

If your team had a theme song, what would it be and why?

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Internet was the wild west when we started the company in 1994 and the landscape has changed from rolling tumbleweeds to next day product delivery – thanks Amazon! We have seen it all and been there for the ride.

What are some hopes and dreams for your company?

We thrive on our reputation. Our clients select us to design their sites due to what they’ve seen us do in the past; we want to give them that. But we also want to give them new things they’ve never seen before; better things.

Why is Victoria a great spot for your organization?

Where else can you take an afternoon off are select from a wide array of activities (physical or not) all within 30-40 minutes? Hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, paddle boarding, golfing, beach combing, or having a craft beer on a local patio.
